HYDRAULIC INSTITUTE MEMBERS ELECT 2009 BOARD OF DIRECTORS
AND OFFICERS AT ANNUAL MEETING
Parsippany, NJ, March 10, 2009 – Hydraulic Institute (HI), the pump industry’s knowledge leader and foremost resource for pump education, announced its 2009 Board of Directors and Officers during a general session at the 92nd Annual Meeting held in Marco Island, Florida.
Bill Waltz, President of the Flow Technologies Division of Pentair Water, was named the Institute’s new Chairman of the Board. Additionally, Bill received HI’s “President’s Award” recognizing his past efforts and leadership as 2008 Board President.
Dennis Ziegler, President and CEO of GIW Industries, was elected HI President and also received HI’s “Vice President’s Award” for his previous service as HI’s VP of Member Services.
Steve Oswald, President of the Industrial Division of Hamilton Sundstrand Corp., was elected as Vice President of HI Member Services, and Ken Napolitano, President of ITT Industrial Process was elected as HI’s Vice President of Knowledge & Education.
Dave McKinstry, Vice President of IMO Pump, was re-elected to serve as HI’s Vice President of Technical Affairs until 2010.

John Miersma, Vice President, CFO and COO of Iwaki America Inc., was presented with HI’s “Chairman’s Award” recognizing his many contributions to the pump industry and to the Hydraulic Institute. Mr. Miersma, along with past HI President, Albert F. Huber, President of the Patterson Pump Company, and Tom Ferguson, President of Flowserve’s Pump Division, continue their active participation with the organization as members of the 2009 Board of Directors.
Robert K. Asdal, Executive Director of HI, will continue to serve as the Institute’s Secretary and Treasurer.
The HI Board of Directors is responsible for guiding the Institute’s strategic plans and direction and providing organizational oversight.

| RD-12Z Pump Introduction |
Dec 2008 – Iwaki America Inc., Holliston, MA, announces their expanded centrifugal pump series with two new models to choose from in their acclaimed RD family. The RD-12 & RD-12Z increases the performance capabilities as well as provides an external flow adjustment feature via a 1-5VDC third wire input making overall systems more energy efficient. These two new pumps are also available in hose barb and threaded connections.
The RD series design is similar to a canned motor that operates via a 24V brushless DC motor with service life in excess of 25K hours. Classified as safety voltage (50V or under) RD pumps allow users to comply with international standards such as CSA, UL, CE and GS. RD pumps are small compact products that have been designed to be cool, quiet and lightweight, which make them ideal candidates for OEM applications including small chiller/circulator systems. RD pumps are also easy on your ears with sound levels as low as 40dB.
The RD pump features a built in drive circuit making connections easy. Coupled with several bearing material options the RD series offers a unique solution for your OEM applications.
Applications for the RD pump include electronics cooling, servers, power supplies, etc. fuel cell recirculation, and laboratory equipment.

| Iwaki Company Ltd. of Japan acquires Walchem Corporation |
Iwaki Company Ltd. of Japan and Walchem Corp. of Holliston, MA are pleased to jointly announce the acquisition of Walchem by Iwaki, including the majority ownership that Walchem has in Iwaki America. The new consolidated entity, operating from its existing premises in Holliston, MA will be called Iwaki America Inc.
Iwaki America Inc. will operate with two groups - Iwaki Pumps and Walchem Controllers. The existing sales, marketing, engineering and manufacturing organizations for Iwaki Pumps and Walchem Controllers will continue without any changes and will operate independently from each other. Both groups will report to Ron Yates, CEO and President. Rick Jewett will continue as Chairman of the new company.
The synergy between Iwaki and Walchem in the areas of advanced pump and controller technology, high quality products and superior customer service will provide a platform for accelerated growth into our target markets of thermal management, semiconductor, medical, fuel cells, chemical process, plating and water and waste water treatment. |
Iwaki America Inc., Receives ISO 9001-2000 Certification
Board Chairman, Richard L. Jewett, citing the hard work and diligence of The Management and Staff of Walchem Corp., said, "Our corporate Quality Management System is a great model for all middle-market (technical) industrial companies to emulate.
